Recipes For Healthy Green Smoothies

Green smoothies are a great way to incorporate leafy greens into your diet because they are nutrient-rich blends of fruits and vegetables. Another  great thing about smoothies with plenty of leafy greens in them is that they are a great source of fiber. The best time to drink green smoothies is morning. It is suitable before and after work out as well. Eating enough leafy greens every day is difficult, but it can be  easily consumed as a drink. Some green leaves give bitter taste, to disguise the bitter taste they should be paired with sweet fruits & veggies  and other natural flavor boosters. Examples are, fruits like apple, mango, banana, avocado, or pineapple, other vegetables like carrot, beetroot, cucumber, or cauliflower, nuts and seeds like almond or peanut butter, hemp or chia seeds, herbs and spices like ginger, cinnamon, turmeric, or cocoa powder, natural sweeteners like honey, dates, or stevia, creamy additions like yogurt, dairy or non dairy milk, or silken tofu. 

Here are some recipes for nutritious Green Smoothies.

01. Classic Spinach Green Smoothie (2 servings)

Ingredients 

  • 3 cups coconut milk
  • 4 cups spinach, frozen
  • 2 medium banana frozen
  • 2 cup fruit of choice (mango/strawberry, grapes, oranges, pineapple, etc)
  • Protein powder or chia seeds or collagen powder (optional)

Instructions : Put ingredients in a blender. Follow the order listed above. Start blending on low speed and increase to high. Blend on high speed for about 1 minute until mixture is smooth. Pour into glasses and enjoy!

02. Gotukola green smoothie (2 servings)

Ingredients : 

  • 3 cups coconut milk
  • 4 cups gotukola, fresh
  • 2 cup fruit of choice (amberella, mango,strawberry, grapes, oranges, pineapple, etc)
  • A pinch of salt 

Instructions : Put all the ingredients except salt  into a blender and blend until smooth. Then add a pinch of salt and mix. Pour into glasses and serve. 

03. Avocado Apple Green Smoothie (2 servings)

Ingredients: 

  •  3 cup nut milk, or dairy milk
  • 4 cups spinach
  • 2 frozen banana
  • 2 apples
  • ½ avocado
  • Protein powder (optional)

Instructions: Add all of the ingredients into a blender and blend for 30 seconds until creamy.

04. Cucumber Green Apple and Ginger Smoothie (3 servings)

Ingredients : 

  • 1 cucumber, peeled and chopped 
  • 1 cup of spinach 
  • 1 ripe avocado, chopped 
  • 1 Green apple , peeled, cored and chopped  
  • 2 cups chilled coconut water 
  • 2 tsp of finely chopped ginger  
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 cup crushed ice

Instructions : Place the avocado, spinach, cucumber, apple, coconut water, ginger, and ice in a blender and blend until smooth. Add lime juice and mix well. Pour into glasses and serve immediately. 

05. Super mint green smoothie (2 servings)

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups (625ml) Almond Milk or coconut milk
  • 1/2 ripe avocado, chopped
  • 1 banana, frozen
  • 4 l dates, pitted and chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 1 cup  spinach leaves
  • 2 tsp honey

Instructions : Place all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth and combined. Pour into glasses and serve.

 06. Super Green Smoothie (2 servings) 

  • 2 - 3 cups spinach or kale
  • 2 cucumbers, peeled and cubed
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 medium green apple, peeled, cored, and cubed
  • 1 - 2 cups of  green grapes 
  • 1 cup water add more if you need it
  • 1 tsp finely minced fresh ginger
  • ¼ cup dairy-free  yogurt
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice

Instructions:  Place all ingredients into a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses. Enjoy immediately. Sweetness of this smoothie depends on how much grapes have been used. If you want more sweetness add more grapes.
