About Me

I have obtained a BSc in Health Promotion from the faculty of Applied sciences at Rajarata University of Sri Lanka in 2013. I have a Diploma in Psychology, Counseling and Psychotherapy obtained from the Institute of Psychological Studies, and is an associate member of the National Institute of Professional Counsellors of Sri Lanka. I have worked as a psychological counsellor at the Kandy branch of Women in Need, a local Non Government Organization (NGO) in Sri Lanka. I am currently studying for a Masters Degree in Food Science and Technology from the Postgraduate Institute of Agricultural Sciences, University of Peradeniya. My mission is to improve the health of individuals, especially women and children, and to promote a quality lifestyle through the concept of well-being.

My story

I believe satisfied life is not a problem free life. If we’re born we have to live, when we live we have to face difficulties. That’s the reality of life. To lead a satisfied life means balancing life. We should be clever enough to balance the main components that are, mental, social, physical and spiritual wellbeing. These are interrelated with each other. If you’ve missed to take care of one, your life will become unbalanced and make you unsatisfactory with life. Healthy living is not just what you eat or how much you exercise, it is also about what you’re thinking, feeling and saying. So, we should look after ourselves. I want to see people happy and satisfied with their life. I also struggled with unhappiness in my life years ago, but luckily I figured out how to face it. Now I am capable enough to handle my difficulties without losing happiness. Even the wealthiest or happiest people have difficulties, the key to success is not to worry about those obstacles and to find solutions and keep moving forward. Do not hold onto grudges with people who have done wrong to you. These are only a few tips to lead a happy life. I wish to share all these resources with you to make the world more beautiful, happy and healthy. So, keep smiling everyday! Yash Jayalath.
