Watermelon is a surprisingly healthy fruit. They have 90 percent water content, and  are low in calories with just 46 in per cup and  high in vitamin C, vitamin A and many healthy plant compounds especially carotenoids, lycopene  and cucurbitacin E. The high water content of watermelon makes it hydrating and helps you feel full.  Some compounds in watermelon, including cucurbitacin E and lycopene, have been studied for their potential to prevent cancer. Lycopene and vitamin C are anti-inflammatory antioxidants found in watermelon. Inflammation is linked to many chronic diseases.

Because watermelons have that extremely high water content, the best way of ensuring a thick and creamy smoothie is to freeze the fruit beforehand. If you use fresh watermelons add crushed ice instead. Normally one medium size watermelon can yield 4 servings of a smoothie. It contains only 46 calories per cup

If you don’t like to find the  grounded watermelon seeds in your smoothie you can remove the seeds before blending. But the watermelon seeds contain high amounts of antioxidants, so removing seeds is wasteful. The outer area (the white area) of watermelons also contains nutrients, so take as much as the flesh of watermelon including the white area.
