Oats are a whole-grain food, known scientifically as Avena sativa. Oats are commonly eaten for breakfast as oatmeal, which is made by boiling oats in water or milk. Oatmeal is often referred to as porridge. They’re also often included in muffins, granola bars, cookies and other baked goods. Oats are rich in carbs and fiber, but also higher in protein and fat than most other grains. They are very high in many vitamins,minerals and powerful antioxidants. Oats are high in the soluble fiber beta-glucan, which has numerous benefits. It helps reduce cholesterol and blood sugar levels, promotes healthy gut bacteria and increases feelings of fullness.

Here is one of the healthiest oatmeal recipes for your breakfast. 

Ingredients : 

Oatmeal :( Serves: 1)

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 dates
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping sauce : 

  • 1/2 cup cashews
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 dates
  • 3/4 - 1 cup water

(The topping sauce makes enough for a few oatmeal bowls.)


Method:

  • Mix the topping ingredients in a blender. 

  • Mix the water, dates, cinnamon and vanilla together for the oatmeal in a blender and pour into a saucepan with the oats.

  • Cook oats until desired consistency ( about 5 minutes )

  • Pour some of the topping sauce on top of the oatmeal.
