Watermelon Popsicle for your kids!

I have written an article about the health benefits of watermelon. You can read it under the “Food & Nutrition” title on this website. Of course, watermelon can be eaten raw. When it is consumed as a smoothie, Citrulline, an important amino acid present in watermelon, easily gets absorbed. After preparing a watermelon smoothie you can freeze it in a popsicle mould to make watermelon popsicles. If your child refuses to eat watermelon (some children don't want to eat fruits) you can give him a popsicle instead. Let’s see how to make watermelon popsicles. First I am going to tell you how to pick a good watermelon. If you picked a wrong one you may not get the desired flavor.
How to choose a good watermelon:
-
Watermelons with uniform size and heavy are sweet while elongated ones are watery.
-
If the field spot is orange, the fruit is full of flavor and if the field spot is white it has little to no flavor.
-
Larger “webbing” means sweet and smaller “webbing” is bland.
-
Dark & dull ones are ripe while shiny ones are not ripe.
If you pick a good watermelon, there is no need of adding sugar or any sweetner to your popsicles. If you want to enhance the flavor you can add honey or some other fruits like passion, lime, lemons, strawberries etc. you can make 10 popsicles from the following recipe.
Ingredients :
-
One good watermelon
-
Juice of one lime
-
Strawberries (optional)
Method :
Cut the watermelon into cubes (remove the outer peel and seeds). Place all ingredients in a blender and puree until completely smooth.Pour into popsicle molds and freeze 3-4 hours, or until very solid.Run the moulds under warm water for around ten seconds. Slowly, and carefully, remove each popsicle from the mould.
