Mushrooms are one of my favorite foods. They are tasty and also healthy. Let's find out the amazing health benefits of delicious mushrooms!

Mushrooms are labeled as a vegetable, but they are not really a plant. Mushrooms belong to the kingdom of fungi. When it comes to a balanced diet that is rich in vitamins and minerals, nutritionists often suggest adding a variety of vegetables and fruits that are colourful like Carrots,Beets, Green leafy vegetables,Pumpkin and other fruits. There is a relationship between colours and nutrient content and quality of foods with its color. But mushrooms are a different food. It has no vibrant color, mostly they are white or pale brown in colour. But its nutritional value is high.

Mushrooms are rich in antioxidants like other colourful vegetables like carrots, tomatoes, bell peppers and pumpkins. Antioxidants have the ability to destroy free radicals  that cause cancer and diseases in our body. Selenium is not present in most fruits and vegetables. Selenium is present in mushrooms and it is needed for the function of liver enzymes. The function of these enzymes is essential to detoxify the body with any carcinogenic chemicals. Selenium helps to reduce body inflammation and prevents the occurrence of tumors.

Mushrooms also contain vitamin D, which cannot be taken by consuming vegetables. Keeping fresh mushrooms open in the morning sunlight can help boost vitamin D levels in it. Mushrooms also contain folate, which is important in the synthesis and repair of DNA.Mushrooms contain vitamin B, riboflavin B2, folate B9, Thiamine B1, Pantothenic acid B5, niacin B3.

Mushrooms are high in fiber, making them an ideal food for people with diabetes. You can save its nutrition quality by simply stir fry with little oil or grill in the oven. Mushroom fiber, potassium and vitamin C are beneficial for the cardiovascular system.

Sodium and potassium are important in regulating blood pressure. Mushrooms are high in potassium and low in sodium so that it is beneficial to add mushrooms to your daily diet. Beta glucans that are present in mushrooms reduce cholesterol level in the blood. In addition to these, mushrooms can boost the immunity in the body as well.

As I mentioned earlier, mushrooms have more fiber content. There are two types of fiber, those are Kaitlyn and Beta Glucans. They reduce cravings to eat more and reduce appetite by making fullness in the stomach which helps us to maintain ideal weight.

Last but not least I mention another benefit of mushrooms, that it contains choline, which is important for learning, memory and sleep.
